BUS 449 Post 3

Social Robocops On Campus

With all the events going on all over the world being up to date and the first to post it or share it online has become a goal for all those social animals around campus. Walking around with the smart phone in their hands is a usual sight when someone is observing students walking around campus. Everyone is sharing and liking on Facebook, plus-ing and circling on Google Plus, tweeting and following on Twitter, blogging and reading different blogs, listening songs and sharing them, reading news, talking and texting on all kinds of messengers etc. "That's so five minutes ago, get in touch with the newest trends, man!"

The launch of the new Robocop movie has given me a simple but useful idea - why not construct the most powerful social Robocop on campus. Someone that would walk around, knowing everything before anyone else, sharing things that no one has hear before, always online and drawing attention everywhere they go.

How about we start with that new (not that new anymore but still in beta testing) gizmo Google came up with a couple of years ago. Something that Robocop himself would fight Tony Stark for the trade mark.
Without further ado I give you Google Glass:

This amazing gadget puts the world of mobile apps and the whole Internet in front of your eye (just one) wherever you go. Google has managed to combine voice control with the whole interface of Google Search and implement an amazing new way of communicating with your mobile device and the whole mobile world. Simply saying "OK Glass..." puts you in charge of these babies and they can do everything from recording videos, voice messages, talking on Skype, voice texting to showing directions on a map, putting reminders in front of your eyes and Google have been talking about putting actual websites on that small piece of glass.

Imagine yourself walking around campus with a pair of these... You have the chance to capture every single thing that's happening and immediately share it with your friends. You will never get lost in a new town, always stay in touch with the latest news and many more things that would require your eyes to be focused on your phone and your hand to be busy scrolling up and down on that screen. Let alone all those new possibilities that open during presentations, travelling, social and business events etc. You name  it - you've got it!

People can even think themselves as Iron Man flying around and checking their messages.

Also here's a video of what's it like to use Glass in different situations.

And since college students are never happy or impressed with other people's gear, here's something to put besides those GLASSes.
What's more annoying than pulling out your phone every three minutes, checking the time/facebook/anything, answering phone calls and messages and risking to drop it every time it comes out of the pocket. What if we could simply ignore the fact that we own a smart phone and walk around with our hands free and look fashionably technological.
Here's what Samsung has to offer to that big problem - the Samsung Galaxy Gear:

This, cute at first glance, small gizmo puts every function of your Android phone on your wrist so you can keep your phone safely in your pocket. Galaxy Gear is a great asset for those of you that are constantly on the phone for talking, news and messages.

It comes in various colours so people can customize their tech life in accordance to what they wear ( Google Glass too - what a coincidence! ). Ladies would love the touch and color of this small gadget while gentlemen would get ecstatic from the steel top and the functionality of the device.
Here's a small review of Galaxy Gear you might find interesting:

So there you go! It seems that the future is not that ahead of us - it is right here! Gear yourself up and start exploring the digital world closer than you have ever seen it before! Happy exploring social animals and see you on the web!
